It's half-term, Tiggy-Winkle. The Horniman was always going to be busy with families this week. I suspect the buggy occupants were accompanying their older siblings on a half-term jaunt.

I fully support having a buggy ban at the Horniman between 9am and 10am. The Horniman doesn't open until 10am so I doubt whether anyone would be affected.

suggestion - find another place to have a quiet coffee other than a museum that is pretty clearly aimed at children (in my view)
the newish coffee shop opposite Forest Hill station seems small enough to be buggy free!

Although it wouldn't affect me, the parents dropping their older children at school and popping for coffee straight afterwards would be very much affected by a 9-10 buggy ban.

I find the best place for a peaceful coffee is at home, not in a public building. I see no reason to ban any section of the community from the cafe at any time whether they are in buggies, wheelchairs, or are stuck in caps lock!

What an UTTERLY RIDICULOUS AND SELFISH IDEA. How else are families sposed to take their young kids out? Would you prefer them to be dumped in front of the telly 8 hours a day? How do you enforce it? Tiny clamps????? I wish I had your lack of things to worry about Tigs.

PS THE BAN WOULD BE EASY TO INFORCE BY WAY OF AN ON THE SPOT FINE,(SAY SIXTY QUID),AND THEN CONFISCATION OF BUGGY ON ANY FURTHER OFFENCE.SIMPLE. TIGGY

These events and the cafe menu are all too posh for the likes of Wiggy Tinkle - Iyengar Yoga, Imbenge Weaving, goats cheese salads, Grauniad mixed meze, cuppacheeno, etc
Can we institute a penalty system for people who don't know how to use the caps lock button? 60 quid fine for a first offence and then we confiscate their keyboard. Simple.

WELL SAID MICHAEL.
It's funny, I never thought I'd say this, but childless people are utterly clueless, fairly often, when it comes to anything remotely connected to children. Maybe not surprising though. We had a daughter two years ago. I was 40 then so had lived a bit, and had up until that point felt myself getting increasingly irked by the proliferation of yummy mummies, designer buggies, baby chinos and trendy baby-carrying gear. IT ALL CHANGES. Excuse caps! When you have a kid, I'm sorry to say, the thought of irritating other people really does come second to how best to keep your demanding toddler in check. Taking them to an area where there is a high likelihood of being surrounded by other screeching little monsters to provide some distraction suddenly becomes the most desirable option.
So on behalf of all of us - sorry!

I think that sometimes we lose sight of the fact that we were all children once.
