I have been at the Stakeholders' Meetings along with Satchers and she represents the informtion given and the discussion well.

I think many aspects of the design are good. The right sort of provision is being made and in a sensible way. My thoughts are:

1) A lot is being sacrificed on the Dartmouth Road side for a coach drop off. The Council seem to be insisting on this, even though it means little chance to green that side of the building. I am unclear about how much a coach drop off would be used.
2) I do not like the glass porch on the old facade front. A lot of effort has been made to keep this facade. It seems a pity to wreck the look of it wth this porch thing. I accept that heat needs to be retained, but surely this bit could be internal?
3) There may be a need to be clearer about the entrance. At the moment there will be an entrance on both the North and East sides. A lot of effort is being made to make the East side accessible. If this was less used as an entrance the elaborate and space taking ramp could be removed (given that the new entrance will be accessible). I favour an increased emphasis on the North side, with a bigger sign on the side of the new block facing the pavement.

These are detailed points. In other ways the design is very striking and successful, with some real beauty in the light into the building on the North and South sides. I hope it will look stunning at night.
