The Forest Hill Society did ask them to consider putting it at the other end of the platform, but the platform is too narrow to allow that easily. We did get them to make the stairs face towards the rest of the platform, they were going to be aligned so that you would walk under the bridge before and after crossing.

There are some hopes that with TfL running the station that a major rebuild might be possible. Railtrack and Southern were completely uninterested.
