The bus I was on was operated by Metrobus at least went the right way to HOP despite stopping at the wrong bus stop.

As I suspected, the drivers aren't local to the area.

The 'short' trip on the bus to New Cross Gate took around half an hour thanks to overcrowding, people asking the driver questions and traffic in the Brockley area.

On the return trip, I decided to get on the Overground to Denmark Hill and got a 185 back. Much quicker than the farcical bus service!
