When I was waiting around for some sort of announcement at LB the other day, I happened to stand next to a puddle of friendly but confused looking drivers, all ready-to-go but not having been given any instructions at all.

Two minutes later came this announcement: "We are sorry to announce that the xxx to xxx is now cancelled due to a lack of drivers."

When I finally got onto a train and it actually left the station, the driver at least had kept his sense of humor "Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. It should have been a good morning, as this is the delayed 10.xx am to Caterham, and we're only running nearly three hours late now, but I can reliably inform you that we are now stopping at New Cross Gate, Brockley, Forest Hill, Mars, Venus, Uranus, and then all stations to Caterham."

Sadly, he only got to NXG where we were then all told to change to the OG as it was now a fast to Caterham service.
