The differential was originally intended to allow ladies to retire at the same time as their husbands because generally ladies married men approximately 5 years older.
As there is legislation that allows ladies equality (and equal pay), I cannot see why the pension age is not the same.
Actually, a man had to take the authorities to the European court to get the freedom pass at 60 (the same age as females).
