I didn't even realise that there was a car park round that way, but i don't stop around there so probably wouldn't. Is it the space next to the taxi office where they sell christmas trees at christmas? Did see all the cars parked on the pavement, there was hardly enough room for one car to go down that road, definitely not room for two. Its a shame that on the first day it is already reverting back to bad habits.
yeah they do tend to sell the christmas trees in that yard next to the cab office.
i use to get a real tree till my dog started thinking it had a indoor loo
so went back to the plastic ones after that.

The car park is opposite the pub just by the bus stop after the subway, big car park too, so I agree i dont know why they cant just use the thing.
Perhaps we ought to ask the councillors to ensure wardens come round often

I know our councillors read this site as they must be anoyed at the behaviour of the drivers after all our moeny has been spent on the new pavement

As for rush-hour bottlenecks, I just despair when I see the lack of consideration people (be it cab drivers, people picking train travellers up or just some of the folks passing through) display to one another.

Interestingly enough, it wasn't long ago that BarCar was on here saying that the council allow parking on the pavement on his road, but refused to drop the kerb. So it isn't quite as simple as that.
That's not to say those cars are right - they're probably not.
Last night when i walked past there were at least 15 cars on the kerb parked either side. According to the signs they are not allowed to park between 7 in the morning and 7 at night therefore when i walked past at around 10pm they were doing no wrong, didn't look good though.
they really do need to stop parking at anytime in that area now.
yes the pavement did need to be wider then it use to be, but now we have a traffic flow problem and something lewisham need to address before more people find out the road is now fully reopen.
In fairness though, cars have been parking outside of these buildings for years now, and given that shops can use a certain amount of pavement space for goods anyway, I personally dont think that they are doing "too much" harm. However would be interesting to know the legal standing.
And if it be wrong, then the cafe on Westbourne may also have to answer the same issue.
However, the pavement further up the road, adjacent to the subway is where its at for me. Im yet to see anyone stopping on the newly narrowed part of the roadway by the subway.

I agree with you Davey. In theory the issue has been addressed by the placing of the double yellows, but it looks like more will need to be done.
The cab office has a yard, AND a car park locally, yet the drivers since the road closed ( and I guess for some time before) have decided to claim Perry Vale as their right of way.
Needs to be sorted asap. Personally I would rather see it being a revenue raiser than spender, with the use of PCN's being issued, either by hand or camera.
Rather than having to spend thousands on posts stopping them mounting the pavement, which will prob only cause them to park on the road and block even more traffic.

Not usually one to make such suggestions, as in a lot of cases parking is pretty unfair and limited, however in this case I have to agree.
There is a perfectly good car park next to the station if people want to pick up or drop off without joining the South Circ (which is understandable)
There is plenty of parking outside the cab office for 1-2 cabs to wait in a taxi rank style system to pick up fares from the office itself.
Given that local businesses moan like crazy that 99.9% of their turnover disappeared when red lines were put in at one of the worse bottlenecks on the whole of the London road network, I think there are probably greater priorities than Perry Vale, as annoying as it undeoubtedly is.
Red Routes are run by TfL not by Lewisham. I see no reason why Perry Vale should be transferred to TfL as it is not a priority route. Hopefully people can just respect double yellows. I few traffic wardens patrolling the area should quickly clear up problems of people who have formed a habit of illegally parking here while the road was shut.
I agree but wardens also should book people who stop briefly to pick up or drop down people for station.
Parking on the pavement , even for a minuite , should be penalised to the maximum.
I would welcome anything that stops the parking.
before long i can see me driving the bullbar of my little old vitara right up some cab drivers backside.
tomorrow will be the test of my temper i guess , if the crystal bar i think its called the crystal bar hold one of its weddings its going to be 100% murder in perry vale.
if you hear on the local news tomorrow night that someone is in hopistal having a bullbar removed you know who done it
