Micheal - as you are aware HOPRA do some good work but they don't represent the views of everyone in Honor Oak Park. Indeed there is support for the idea behind the forum, yes it could be very positive indeed, however the boundary issue and the lack of flexibility and inclusiveness remains. This is a concern for many, which need to be raised. It will be interesting to see the outcome of the consultation as it directly questions whether people agree with the proposed boundary.

I am not convinced that the proposed boundary grouping of crofton park along with effectively an incomplete area of honor oak park seems well thought out.
Firstly: When forming such a forum, for sole purpose of representing communities, It is bizarre to pick the arbitrary line of the railway to de mark where honor oak park ends. It shows a clear, (and slightly worrying) lack of understanding of the areas beyond the railway line, and up towards 1 tree hill, and all residents within the wedge shaped area between honor oak park ( road) and Devonshire rd.
Secondly: The success of areas like honor oak park is that they are beginning again to foster the village atmospheres they once had, repairing damage done over recent decades. Honor oak park parade is now getting more boutique stores restaurants and a sainsburys local. People that feel they are residents of honor oak park will judge so by their position in relation to these facilities and of course the station. I live 3 min walk to honor oak park station and 4 mins from the shops and even live on honor oak park (road). ( I.e short walking distance). I have great interest in how the honor oak parade is developed in the future and I want to see more trees, more traffic calming and to prevent poor quality development or unsuitable additions to the parade- but I have no more of a concern over crofton park than I do say forest hill or dulwich village.
For example it wasn't random residents of crofton park that campaigned tirelessly against dominos in the parade.
I would suggest a sharper targeting of neighbourhood forum boundaries may actually give them more potency, vibrancy and relevance to local communities. Honor oak park has enough will to go alone I would suggest.

I totally agree with you tincan - There is a lot of strong feeling in Honor Oak Park, and indeed amongst Honor Oak folk, just over the hill, who probably feel even more isolated in terms of boundaries and where they belong re neighbourhood. A more open minded and inclusive approach is needed to define our neighbourhoods and what say we have. We are tired of being dictated to according to boundaries - and displeased with the shortsighted councillors who wish to implement this.

A short survey has been set up to find out more about where people live and how they feel about their neighbourhood. It takes a couple of minutes to fill in. It also invites people to comment on the proposed neighbourhood forum boundary and if they agree or dissagree with it's geographical definition re including all of Honor Oak Park as a neighbourhood. It will be very interesting to see the results and related views. The more people who take part the better!
Please see link proposed boundary map (which sticks to Crofton Park ward's political boundary)
https://www.lewisham.gov.uk/myservices/p...%20Map.pdf
And fill in the survey here https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Wheredoyoulive

A great response to the Where do you live? survey so far - the results so far are already looking very interesting. It will be good to get as many people as possible taking part. If you have a couple of minutes to spare please see the links above.

You just beat me to it FHSoc - yes the more people who reply to this consultation the better. Links are above.
The Where Do You Live survey had a good response and have been collated and results sent to Lewisham Council. Will pop a link to copy on here soon so people can see the results.

Received this email update today (the links won't work):
Dear neighbourhood planning consultee
I am writing as you have previously expressed an interest in neighbourhood planning in the London Borough of Lewisham. Please find an update on neighbourhood planning issues below.
If you no longer wish to receive such updates, please contact me asking to be removed from the mailing list.
Crofton Park and Honor Oak Park Neighbourhood Planning Update
The Council consulted on the Crofton Park and Honor Oak Park proposed neighbourhood forum and neighbourhood area in February and March 2014.
Whilst there was a significant level of support for the proposal, the consultation exercise did reveal concerns by members of the public regarding the exclusion of those living outside of the proposed Neighbourhood Area from taking part in the Forum activities.
In response to these concerns, the proposed Crofton Park and Honor Oak Park Neighbourhood Forum has made revisions to the constitution to allow those outside the proposed area to become non-voting ‘associate members’ of the proposed Forum.
The full wording of the revised constitution can be found by clicking here. The relevant paragraph number is 6.2.
The applications for the proposed neighbourhood forum and area will be determined by the Mayor of Lewisham at the Mayor and Cabinet meeting on the 16th July 2014. Full details will be available a week before the meeting, and will be found by clicking here.
Please direct enquiries regarding procedural matters relating to the Mayor and Cabinet meeting to Kevin Flaherty, Head of Committee Business, 0208 3149327.
Yours faithfully
David Knight

The council officers are recommending approval and this is to be considered by cabinet on Wednesday 6pm:
http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/myservices/pl...ation.aspx
Some interesting nuggets to be found in the documents. Council only targeted consultation up to 150m from ward boundary. This ticks legal requirement but Honor Oak extends a good deal further west and south than that.

Lewisham Council media release
Thursday 17 July
Borough’s first neighbourhood forum established in Crofton Park and Honor Oak Park
In a first for Lewisham, Crofton Park and Honor Oak Park has been designated a neighbourhood area with its own neighbourhood forum.
It means that local people, through the forum, can now prepare a neighbourhood plan that will set out how they want their area to develop. Once it is agreed it will become a legal document that must be considered when decisions are made on planning applications.
Neighbourhood plans can contain a wide variety of policies relating to building and development, from the types of extensions people can build on their homes to the delivery of commercial development.
One of the founding members of the forum, Crofton Park councillor Pauline Morrison said: “Crofton Park and Honor Oak is thriving. We are proud of our neighbourhood and the community it serves and I want to encourage everyone who lives and works here to get involved and work with us to conserve and enhance the local area.”
Membership of the forum will be open to anyone who lives or works in the neighbourhood area, and associate membership is open to anybody who has an interest in the area. For more information contact Cllr Morrison by email cllr_pauline.morrison@lewisham.gov.uk or on 020 8244 5315.

First meeting of the new forum this Wednesday:
Crofton Park and Honor Oak Park Neighbourhood Forum
Established in July 2014, the Crofton Park and Honor Oak Park Neighbourhood Forum (HopCroft Forum) will lead on pulling together a Neighbourhood Plan for the area to outline the future for Crofton Park and Honor Oak Park.
Starting with blank sheets of paper we would like to hear your views, ideas and aspirations for your Neighbourhood.
If you live or work within the Neighbourhood Area, or even regularly visit then please help us make them reality.
You are invited to Crofton Park Library at 7pm on Wednesday 5 November 2014, to start the process and hear about what is being planned.
There will be food and drink to help your ideas flow
