BonnieHe pleaded not guilty yesterday but he was known to have run away from an attempted break in at Shirley. An old woman lived alone at the address. He used to live at Brockley Mews.

After this he was seen on CCTV at a cashpoint drawing money from one of his victims debit cards. The CCTV could not identify him because he had a mask on but the CCTV showed the reflection of a bus in the background.

From the CCTV on the bus they identified his car.

He made two unsuccessful attempts to break in in the road next to mine.

Roz I am surprised at you - inocent until proven guilty - do let the jury do their job!

Ghis - no I agree. That photofit was a younger man - possibly a copycat. I hope he has been apprehended by now.

Assuming he is guilty I hope he does not get life. There is a much cheaper and more just solution.

Thankfully they have caught this guy.
Bit strange that it was a majority verdict if his defence was as reported ie a load of piffle

I must admit, I too found it strange it wasn't an unanimous verdict!

Doesn't surprise me, having done jury service. There are people who don't understand 'beyond reasonable doubt', or who do not trust/cannot weigh up the evidence presented, or who have their own agenda etc.

At least the majority thought the same way.

Guess we wait for the sentence.
Will it be more than 100 hours community service. I wonder.

it will probably be life - which actually means an indeterminate sentence, with the Judge giving a number of years to be served before a convict can even apply for parole. The Parole Board would have to be satisifed he is no longer a danger to the public - an unlikely eventuality considering the nature of his crimes

I hope you are correct Poppy. I was being a little cynical about the prresent justice system.
How much will it cost us assuming he lives to average age. I dread to think.
I expect he will have multi channel TV , gym etc
