Are you allowed to use the pavements in this challenge?

Cycling on the pavement is not encouraged unless there is a cycle lane there.

I'd be happy to get involved but I don't know any "real" people who cycle regularly to form a team with - can we form a team of on-line cyclists who may never have met each other and whose real names we don't know??

Sure, why not, you can form an SE23 team and keep each other updated.

Happy to join a virtual "SE23" team, and record my commute - approx 60 miles a week.

You should create the team.
