you would think so Sherwood. I have seen a resident from The Fieldings cycling the wrong way down Manor Mount with a child in a carrier on the back of the the bike. I despair! On a similar note there was some kind of accident on Tuesday evening in Manor Mount just past the junction of Waldenshaw Road. The police were there for several hours so it must have been quite serious.

I was amused at the passenger transport ambulance that bombed down there on Monday.

I raised the issue of cars going the wrong way on Manor Mount at last night's police safer neighbourhood team ward panel.
The police have promised to spend a bit more time on this road stopping naughty drivers.

The police have done this once since I lived there. I have lived there since 2001.
Believe it when I see it.

The police newsletter states:
Over the past two weeks officers from Perry Vale and Forest Hill SNT have been conducting Traffic Enforcement operations in Manor Mount SE23 in answer to recent complaints from local residents that road users were frequently contravening the ‘No Entry’ sign at the junction of Honor Oak Road and speeding along Manor Mount. Officers were tasked and attended the area at peak hours during early and late rush hour times to tackle this issue.
A number of vehicles were stopped for contravening the ‘No Entry’ sign and also for driving the wrong way down a one way street. The drivers were reported for the offences and will receive a fine of £100 and an endorsement of 3 penalty points on their driving licences. The residents of Manor Mount who approached police were very happy with their presence at the location and the actions which had been taken.
It will be interesting to see if this reduces the illegal traffic on this road. It would be helpful to hear from residents if there has been a noticeable reduction following the police operation.

The operation did not discourage the person in the black BMW X5 driving down there yesterday afternoon.
Were they undercover? Never saw them.
Be interesting to know how many they caught and when they were conducting these 'operations'.

In my experience these operations only work while the officers are actually there. As soon as they leave people go back to their old ways.

There has been no change to the amount of vehicles coming down Manor Mount, especially during the evening rush hour.

Question. Does Lewisham use CCTV in any instances for traffic violations?
I'm not talking about going after people for parking fines, I'm talking about capturing motorists going through wrong way down Manor mount....... Pretty serious offence.

Decker, see earlier in this thread:

gbrownings, I think they are almost finished. I did get information in October that told me:
scheduled to commence in mid January 2015 to be completed within 30 days.
So it is only overrunning by about three months (four times longer than originally estimated).

Seems like a relatively small project (basically just widening sections of pavement) which has had plenty of people working on it so odd it should be taking so much longer than expected.
Still, at least it has kept several dozen people in work this year as they spin it out interminably....

This reminds me of the story of the two council workers. They were working at the edge of a road. One guy would dig a hole and the other guy would fill it in. Then they'd move along about 10 feet and one guy would dig a hole and the other guy would fill it in. And so on, and so on.
"Excuse me," said a rate-paying passer-by, "but I couldn't help but notice that one of you digs a hole and then the other guy fills it in again. Why, for goodness sake, why?"
"Well," said one of the council workers, "that's coz the bloke that plants the trees is off sick today..."

The kids and I watched with fascination as a wagon a grab stopped on Honour Oak and then revered all the way down Manour Mount to then do a three point turn into Waldenshaw Road where it double park next to another lorry on the zig zags outside Fairlawn Primary and started to transfer soil.
Some people really don't give a sh#t.

The contractors appear to have left the site. New Traffic Lights have been installed and are working. BUT they have not finished the job. Traffic islands remain un-made-up. There are red traffic cones all over the place and the whole area looks scruffy with bits and pieces like red hurdles surrounding work areas. Just like Skanska in Honor Oak Road. They have started a job but not finished it, WHEN WILL WORKMEN RETURN AND FINISH THE JOB?

It appeared me that work had more or less ground to a halt.
This is the reply I received from TfL today....
Was it really meant to take until June 30?
Thank you for your Report-It regarding site being left unattended.
With regards to the junction improvement works which included the demolishment and rebuild of 23 draw pit chambers and associated ducting, kerb alignment and footway works. We are undertaking the road crossings in two halves, and transferring existing signal poles.
We are resuming works on site from 20:00 pm tonight to complete the outstanding works which includes completion of the pedestrian islands, Tesco’s crossover and works to the footway. There was a brief hiatus as we were trying to identify the cause of the water leak at the junction.
As per the scheme information board, the completion of this scheme has been scheduled for the 30th June 2015 and we are working to meet this date.
The Traffic Management which has been left on site is to protect pedestrians from any hazardous areas, and this has been kept tidy by the contractor and at this stage of the works is at a minimum.
The scope of our works only involved works to the footway and relevant line marking alterations and did not extend to carriageway resurfacing.
Thank you for taking the time to use TfL's Report It tool.
