I emailed Picturehouse (again, getting over-excited) - this is their reply:
Thank you for your email and your interest in The Picturehouses.
We are always looking for great opportunities to grow the Picturehouse family and this site looks like it would be a great addition to our group. We do not currently have any plans for a venue in this area but I have forwarded your email to the relevant department.
Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance and, again, thank you for your interest in the Picturehouses.
Kindest regards,
Jim

Maybe if enough people mail them, it'll get them looking at the possibility more seriously?

As the original poster about The Capitol closing I did ascertain some information when it was first mooted. Picturehouse (and other cinema chains) did investigate and decided against it due to the listed building problems. So it is unlikely to revert to being a cinema.
Unless Wetherspoons receive a satisfactory price for the lease they will not pass the lease on. Maybe another pub chain or nightclub venue might be interested. I don't think this will happen soon.....

Keep the Wetherspoons. Pints for less than £4 please.

And those are the expensive beers, most ales are under £2.50. Also their breakfasts - especially Eggs Benedict - are incredible value for money.

The Bird in Hand on Dartmouth Road is also really good value for money - especially now that it's been refurbed.

They do a pint of Punk IPA on tap in there for £3.50. TV for sports and allowed to bring food in as well. God send.

I didn't realise that we are located 7 miles south west of central London either.

I suspect that is a driving route to Charing Cross. A little less than that as the crow flies I think, more like 6.
ETA but not south west!

If we could move the rest of Forest Hill to 7 miles south west of central London we'd double our house prices! #pensionpot

It's an easy mistake to make. Central London and Woolwich are easy to confuse.
Still better than when Next PR department measures the distance from Sydenham (Oxfordshire) to their nearest store.
http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/111817..._Sydenham/
Fashion retailers Next are opening of a new megastore in a Sydenham retail park [Bell Green].
....
Until now, the nearest Next store has been in Aylesbury, more than 12 miles away.

IMO It would be great if The Capitol became a joint cinema, theatre & music/comedy venue......

That would be a great idea - perhaps it could also operate as an indoor market in the daytime? Perhaps it could work as an easy outlet for some of the amazing craftspeople and artists on Havelock work? Antiques, music etc - that could be easily cleared away int he evening to allow it to run as a cinema/music venue etc?

I would place money on the Capitol becoming a religious venue like the cinema in Catford.
A lot of the religious groups have the money and they will probably ignore restrictions that are in place due to the grade 2 listing.

Hi Steve. I hope not given the issues we had in Davids Road. However that was enforced by the council at the time. I would be surprised if it was granted planning given traffic issues with all of the local "churches"!

No enterprise with commercial nous will take over the building without obtaining plans from the Council detailing how they are going to integrate the two car parks with the town centre.
