Some good news on the Windrush line closure between the 11th-14th August.

It will only happen during the late evenings with services operating normally during the day.

Last train from Whitechapel will be at 2145 and Canada Water at 2153. After this time if you're travelling from Central London, you'll need to use Southern services from London Bridge or Victoria.

Windrush line services will operate between New Cross Gate and West Croydon/Crystal Palace from 2200.

Saturday 2nd/Sunday 3rd August.

Forest Hill/Honor Oak Park: Normal service with some changes to late night Southern services on Saturday night.

The final Southern service from Victoria will depart at 2359 instead of 2320, so there will be a gap of over an hour between services. The last service operating with a 30 min gap is the 2250. Alternatives during that time are to use Bus 185 from Terminus Place or the tube/Overground via Westminster and Canada Water.

The final Southern service from London Bridge will depart at 0044 to East Croydon.

Catford Bridge/Lower Sydenham: Normal service.

Crofton Park/Catford: Normal service on Saturday, Sunday is diverted to Orpington after Bickley with replacement buses between Bromley South and Sevenoaks via Swanley.

Provisional Christmas week timetables have been published up to Dec 26th.

Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park will have no Southern service from the 22nd December onwards. Windrush line services will operate throughout Christmas except the 25th December with an early close on Xmas Eve. Boxing Day will have a special service every 15 mins between Highbury & Islington and West Croydon only. If using those Boxing Day services to get into central London, the Elizabeth line is closed on Boxing Day, so use Canada Water for the Jubilee line which is open.

Catford Bridge and Lower Sydenham will have no trains from the 22nd onwards.

Crofton Park and Catford will see a Saturday timetable with peak extras from 22nd-24th December and no service on Xmas Day and Boxing Day.

Obviously this will be updated nearer the time including New Year's services. It's likely if the Windrush overnight service happens this year, it'll be a reduced service as there's no service on NYE from 2300 between Sydenham and Crystal Palace for engineering work.

A small correction, it's the 23rd rather than the 22nd when there are no services on some lines.

Before I update next weekend's engineering works, it's important to know how the tube and DLR strikes from Sunday will affect your travel.

This Sunday the London Underground is expected to close from 1800 and will have a limited service or no service at all depending on the line used from Monday to Thursday. LU will start up from 0800 on Friday and have a full service from the late morning.

Canada Water may also not open or be open for a limited time as the station is managed by London Underground. Check before you travel.

The Elizabeth line is open throughout but will not stop at Whitechapel (and other deep level stations to Bond Street) before 0730 and after 2230 on Monday and Wednesday, while on Tuesday and Thursday there's no service until 0800 but will stay open until the final service. It may also be the case that Windrush line services won't stop at Whitechapel at those same times too.

Strike action on the DLR on Tuesday and Thursday means that Shadwell DLR will be closed on those days with no services across the DLR network. If the Jubilee line to Canary Wharf is closed, then the Elizabeth line from Whitechapel is an alternative.

There's no mention of the opening times for Highbury & Islington station which is also managed by London Underground. This may affect Windrush line services which may terminate at Dalston Junction when the station is closed. Again check before travelling to see if H&I is open for Victoria line, Great Northern and Mildmay line services before travelling. It may be possible to change at Canonbury for Mildmay services.

To recap, Sunday evening don't use the Tube. The only rail links into central London after 1800 are the Elizabeth line from Whitechapel or Southern services from London Bridge/Victoria.

Monday and Wednesday use the Elizabeth line, but ensure you reach Whitechapel before 2230. Tuesday and Thursday Whitechapel is open until the last train.

Use Southern services into London Bridge to change for Southeastern services into Cannon Street, Waterloo East and Charing Cross along with Thameslink services for Blackfriars, St Pauls Thameslink, Farringdon (when London Underground open the station) and St Pancras Thameslink for King's Cross.
