On the East Dulwich forum someone mentioned that Our post office on the old Wh Smith
(Now T Jones or something?) Is closed until further notice..
Any update or idea why this is?
Please say its not being closed for good as I seriously cannot face queuing for Lordship Lane PO.

It's pot luck at the East Dulwich Post Office depending on the day and the time. Quieter after 4.30pm and sometimes in the mornings. Otherwise you run the risk of waiting in the street.
There's the sub PO on Stanstead Road by Blythe Vale and another on Forest Hill Road which can be reached on the 363 along with Sydenham PO as alternatives.

I'm not advocating for the closure of our Post Office counter, but with the high cost of sending parcels via the PO, compared with the significantly lower charges from others like Evri, InPost and many others, and the PO limited opening times and lengthy queues, compared with the convenience of dropping-off and collecting from 24-7 lockers and local shops that you can breeze in-and-out-of from 7am-11pm, I think it would help some in the longer term [by exploring these other alternatives] if they're temporarily inconvenienced here.

So is it closed permenantly?
I mainly use it for banking and sending reg mail/important documents.
all the alternatives are a bus ride away
And I have'nt a clue were the Sydenham one is because I quite simply never go to Sydenham !

The Forest Hill Post Office was open this morning, so if there was a 'closed until further notice sign', it was misleading.

The difference between the Post Offices in Sydenham and Forest Hill is like comparing chalk and cheese.
Sydenham provides a warm, welcoming and efficient service with staff appearing to be really on the ball and even in the event of a queue forming you are rarely delayed for long.
From our perspective at the bottom of Perry Hill we still have not forgiven Sainsburys for inducing our local Post Office to migrate into their then Savacentre and then terminating it as an operation a few years later.
Value your local Post Office and fight for it.
