Stop D outside The Capitol on London Road is closed due to emergency works by UK Power Networks.

Nearest bus stops are Honor Oak Road for all of the routes served or Stop F by Forest Hill Station on Devonshire Road for Routes 185 and 356.

The works have no effect on the traffic flow and the other bus stops on London Road towards Sydenham or Catford opposite The Capitol remain open although cars are having to use the bus lane.

In recent months (perhaps going back at least a year) TfL have stopped or reduced the numbers of occasions where setting up temporary bus stops that are nearby to ones that are closed for reasons such as road works is carried out.
The practice of setting up temporary stops was well founded and helped minimise disruption for bus passengers where there were long gaps between regular bus-stops on routes. The longer walks to reach another regular stop can be distressing for those less mobile passengers.
It is accepted that in some locations, setting up temporary stops can be more difficult - but current practice adopted by TfL seems to be not to make any effort at all.
Time to re-think this, TfL, and re-adopt use of temporary stops.

I think the problem here is that there simply isn't the space to add a temporary stop by Costa Coffee for the buses.

Incidentally the two bus stops on the other side have Countdown boards that claim the bus stop is closed, but they're still open despite blocking the road when a bus pulls up.

If mobility is an issue and you need to get a bus towards Dulwich or the 356 up to Kirkdale/Wells Park Road/Sydenham Hill is to use Stop F on Devonshire Road which is the closest stop to the station. You can use the 356 also to drop you off at the Honor Oak Road stop if you need the 176 or 197 or the 122 for the Forest Hill Pools stop for the same buses on Dartmouth Road.

Thank you for the tips on inter-connections - very useful for some cases but not all.

It's the principle whereby TfL seem not to use temporary stops anymore - and anywhere.

Of course, it is accepted that in some locations, setting up temporary stops can be more difficult or not achievable - but they could at least try.

Elf and Safety - innit ! A temporary stop position has to be checked out for all sorts of safety reasons nowadays - so it's easier not to bother.

As you may well know by now, the bus stop reopened. I wasn't in FH on Friday to know when it reopened, but was open on Saturday.
