Glad you enjoyed it Deano. I was impressed by how many people came along (just some of the crowd shown below as numbers increased as it got dark)
Anybody can help the Forest Hill Society to organise events like this by joining the society. You don't even need a personal invitation from me you can sign up online http://www.foresthillsociety.com/p/membership.html
Did anyone else get harassed by the evangelical Christians outside the train station yesterday? I was coming around the corner from the subway, opened my bag to get my Oyster card and a man rushed up to me and put his hand right in my bag and deposited one of their cards- I was about to clobber him as I thought he was going to steal my purse! I looked at the card, walked around to the station and gave the card back to one of his colleagues - I may not believe in God but I do believe in recycling. Bad move - I had two of them shouting after me all the way into the station, trying to get me to stop and shouting 'Jesus loves you!'.
The whole thing was most disconcerting and almost felt threatening.
Don't worry rsdunlop, the very worst they would have done is to try to love you to death. In a world where people worry about getting knifed by strangers being given a card with Jesus Loves you on it seems quite nice.
Ironically, we were singing evangelical Christian songs outside the station. Hark the Herald Angels Sing is about as clear a sermon on basic Christian doctrine as you will ever get and it was nice to head it twice in Forest Hill over the weekend.
