...perched on a roof in Devonshire Road.
A suprising but beautiful sight against the gloom of the grey morning.
It was big and green with a colorful face.
I was too slow to source my camera however.

Thousands of them in the area. If you go over towards Beckenham, Downham etc you will see huge flocks of them.
Quite common around Forest Hill too, but not in the same numbers.
Beautiful sight though.

A flock of them used to roost in my neighbour's huge tree (beech, I think) until it was crowned this spring. They then moved into my garden, stripped my cheery tree of its blossom and set up a constant hullabaloo. Yes they are pretty, but also a nuisance. Especially if it's a hot summer and you've moved your laptop outside.

Strictly speaking, ring-necked parakeets, whose native range includes areas in the Himalayas with a similar climate to our own. My birder neighbour tells me their main competitive advantage is ability to exploit nesting sites - something here from the RSPB

Had 4 or 5 that would come to the bird feeder earlier in the year - I ended up changing the feeder to something they could not get to as they would empty in almost in a day and scare off all the smaller birds.
At my parents back in West London it's fair to say they are noisy as anything where the flocks seem larger. Imagine they will across most of London in large numbers everywhere shortly.

Lots living in Horniman Gardens as well. They cheer me up whenever I see them.

Lots of them out my way in Footscray Meadows. Know for stripping young fruit off trees. In this case from next door
